Palazzo d'Arcato (Tuscan Arches) is a beautiful and charming ancient villa situated in a quiet and panoramic location in the hills surrounding Lucca, in the medieval village of Lugliano. This property has been recently restored with its ancient architectural features preserved and converted into four apartments, all of which offer tastefully furnished interiors that allow their guests a combination of old charm and contemporary design.

The Palazzo is on three floors with individual entrances to each of the 4 villas, or the Palazzo is ideal for accommodating 20 people using the entire building.

This sun drenched magical landscape offers splendid and extensive views of the surrounding villages, a truly Tuscan experience which is tranquil and yet not too remote.

If taking a holiday at the Palazzo in the European summers of June – August you can enjoy the warmth from the hills and cool down in our Roman Pool overlooking the views, horse riding through the chestnut and accacia trees or meandering up and down old roads through the mountains.

The baths of Bagni di Lucca are only a 5 minute drive, approx 2 km down the hill and the beautiful walled city of Lucca is only a 25 minute drive. The Garfagnana area is one of the most beautiful and unspoiled areas of Northern Tuscany and not to be missed. Florence, Pisa and the coast – cinqueterre are all short distances away which can be enjoyable day trips.

The spring months of March – May when the air is mild and nature is vibrant is a most spectacular time. For the winter months of December – February, the Abetone ski fields are a 40 minute drive if you are an avid skier or if you just wish to enjoy the snow on the mountains and the fabulous restaurants that surround the area.

There is an “Alimentari” store two doors away which supplies a range of fresh food and other commodities.

Panorama apartment

The Panorama apartment has 6/8 sleeps and a large balcony.

The stone stairway to the top leads you to a lounge room with leather couches and a stone fireplace with 32 inch LCD TV, DVD and surround sound system. Doors open out to the balcony which continues across the entire level. The balcony has a large teak table and chairs for outdoor entertaining.

The fully equipped gourmet kitchen with marble top, chestnut cupboards and centre isle is certainly for lovers of cooking. There is a double oven with an six burner gas top, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine (clothes dryer is located in communal garden area), ironing facilities and all necessities for entertaining.

Through the hall way is the dining area for 8 persons which was once the chapel and again opens through to the balcony.

The main bedroom with king size bed has a very romantic feel as it opens out onto the balcony. This is complete with en suite bathroom, comprising of American style shower, WC and hair drier.

Giardino A apartment

Giardino A has 2/4 sleeps.

The entrance is on the ground level. Consists of a fully equipped kitchen with gas top, oven, dishwasher, microwave, ironing facilities and dining table and chairs. The lounge area has chairs and a comfortable couch which converts into a double bed for extra guests. It is equipped with a LCD TV, DVD player and CD stereo system.

The large bathroom is modern with a cutting edge design, marble vanity top, American style shower, WC, bidet and hair drier.

The bedroom has a queen size bed and opens out to the garden area with an outdoor setting.

You may also opt to join the two ground floor apartments GIARDINO A & B to sleep 8.

Terrazzo apartment

The Terrazzo apartment has 6 sleeps with small balconies.

As you enter through the main entrance there are only two steps to the door of the Terrazzo Apartment. As you proceed through the hallway there is a spacious dining area for 6 and large lounge area with modern leather comfortable couches with 26" wide screen LCD TV, DVD, CD stereo sound system. This opens out to a fabulous balcony.

A new fully equipped kitchen area has been built with a four burner gas top and oven, microwave, dishwasher and ironing facilities. The kitchen opens out to a balcony where guests can enjoy their breakfast while taking in the overwhelming views.

The original stone cooking area and stone sink have been meticulously restored giving you a romantic feel of days gone by.

The spacious main bedroom offers a king size bed with a desk, and the ensuite has a shower, WC and hairdryer. The room opens onto a balcony where one can sit amoungst the ambience and enjoy the scenic charm of Tuscany.

The second bedroom has a comfortable queen size bed. Off the second bedroom is the main bathroom with shower, WC, bidet and hairdryer.

The third bedroom has two single beds and is tastefully decorated with exquisite lighting, wardrobe space and balcony with sun deck chairs and small table.

Giardino B apartment

Giardino B has 2/4 sleeps and comprises of a fully equipped kitchen with gas top, oven, dishwasher, microwave, ironing facilities, dining table and chairs.

The lounge area has chairs and a comfortable couch which converts into a double bed for extra guests. It is equipped with an LCD TV , DVD player and CD stereo system. This area opens out onto an outdoor setting and garden, and of course the spectacular views!

The bedroom offers a queen size bed and stepping up from the bedroom is an alcove for clothes and storage. A superb bathroom with modern fittings, American style shower, WC, bidet and hairdrier.

You may also opt to join the two ground floor apartments Giardino A & Giardino B to 8 sleeps.

Extras to pay at location

Weekly linen and bathroom towels are included. There is a cost for additional towels and linen.
Electricity usage: €15 per week
Central heating and gas are billed by consumption
Final cleaning & Bond
Internet Use FREE. Only in Apt Panoramic, Terrazzo and Giardino A
Daily cleaning is not included but optional at additional cost of €40 per day.

New services

Babysitter available evenings at 10 Euro per hour. Babysitter available in the village when available. Bookings for the babysitter need to be made in advance, preferably when the booking for the Apartment has been made. Payments to the babysitter are to be made directly to the person in cash.
